Apple Kicks Off 2026 With New Fitness+ Programs, Big Artists, and a ‘Quit Quitting’ Challenge

Apple is starting 2026 with a renewed push to help users stay active and motivated well beyond January. The company has unveiled a wave of new workout programs for Apple Fitness+, expanded its Artist Spotlight lineup with major music stars, and shared new data suggesting Apple Watch users are better than most at sticking to their fitness goals.

The updates are designed to support New Year’s resolutions with structured workouts, fresh music, and challenges that reward consistency rather than perfection.

Apple Watch Users Are Beating ‘Quitter’s Day’

According to new insights from the Apple Heart and Movement Study, users of Apple Watch tend to maintain workout momentum well past the second Friday in January—often referred to as “Quitter’s Day,” when most resolutions are thought to fall apart.

To keep that momentum going, Apple is introducing two new motivation tools this month:

  • A “Ring in the New Year” limited-edition award for closing all three Activity rings seven days in a row
  • A new “Quit Quitting” challenge on Strava, where logging 12 workouts in January unlocks a special digital badge

Together, these challenges focus on consistency and habit-building rather than extreme goals.

Beginning January 5, Fitness+ subscribers will see four new multi-week training plans aimed at removing the guesswork from daily exercise. These include:

  • Make Your Fitness Comeback — a four-week blend of Strength, HIIT, and Yoga
  • A guided plan for building a consistent yoga habit
  • A program focused on mastering strength fundamentals
  • A structured approach for easing back into regular movement

Each plan is designed to be approachable, especially for users returning to exercise after a break.

Bad Bunny and KAROL G Join the Artist Spotlight Series

Apple is also refreshing the Artist Spotlight series, which pairs workouts with curated playlists from major musicians.

  • KAROL G workouts arrive first, bringing high-energy Latin pop to Fitness+ sessions
  • Bad Bunny joins in February, timed with the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show

In addition, new episodes of Time to Walk will feature guests such as Penn Badgley and Mel B, adding storytelling and conversation to longer walks.

Designed for Apple’s Latest Hardware

The new Fitness+ content is built to take advantage of Apple’s newest devices. Advanced metrics are supported on the latest Apple Watch models, while newer features help make workouts more informative and engaging.

For audio-focused users, AirPods Pro now support real-time heart rate data displayed onscreen during workouts, allowing users to stay informed without constantly checking their watch.

A Smarter Approach to New Year Motivation

Rather than pushing extreme transformations, Apple’s 2026 Fitness+ updates focus on sustainable habits, structure, and encouragement. With guided programs, popular artists, and challenges that reward showing up, Apple is betting that consistency—not intensity—is what keeps people moving all year long.

For anyone looking to make fitness stick this time around, Apple’s latest lineup aims to make quitting a little harder.
